Hey guys, I just wanted to use this time to celebrate my friend Orseer Ikyaator and his wife; Dr. Foyekemi Ikyaator on their new family business The Life Savers ER. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication that a good number of my lovely Nigerian people embody. Why am I sharing this story? You might want to ask me. The reason is to encourage anyone reading this that their dreams can become a reality and their skin color should not be a limiting force but a driving force. I remember in college, during my final year, one of my study hall assistants told me that it is very difficult and almost impossible for African Americans to succeed in the corporate world. She pretty much told me that I need to get a masters' degree to even come close to getting a job. Of course I told her that it wasn't impossible for me. The truth of the matter is there are thousands of African Americans that are being discouraged from pursuing their dreams by family and friends because of the color of their skin. It is in cases like these that I say change your circle or limit the amount of time spent around people who do not support your dreams.
I am so proud of Orseer and Foyekemi for such an amazing feat and for also proving the stereotype wrong. Many lives are going to be saved because of their dedication to their dream to save lives. This story was initially reported by and shared by my friend on Facebook. I'm so proud of their accomplishment and I know in my heart that this is just the beginning of many great things to come. If you live in the Houston area, stop by the Life Savers ER located at 17685 Tomball Parkway Houston, TX 77064, January 15th 2016 for their ribbon cutting ceremony. The entire community is invited to come take part in the festivities that is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. The event will be catered by Texas Land and Cattle. The Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce, and other prominent medical practices are expected to be there and they will be giving the public free screenings. If I were you, I wouldn't miss it.
