New hair and loving it!

Hey guys. Welcome to my blog today. I just wanted to share a few things that I have learned in my experience that contribute to living a happy life. I used to be one of those people who think that happiness is the goal in life. Once, I thought that if only I got more money or made more friends or bought the latest electronic device that I would be happier and content. Of course, I have soon realized that it's all bull. What I have learned is that happiness that is based on material possession and friendships with only certain people is short-lived. In other words, it is all vanity. It doesn't last. The longer I focused my attention and put my whole energy into acquiring more possessions and making friends with people who don't give a crap about me, the lonelier and more disconnected I felt.

It took me a while to come to the realization that I don't need material possessions to be happy. I don't need certain people in my life to be happy. I soon started learning to appreciate each day as it comes. Of course, I make sure to start off my day thanking God for my family and the good friends I have and then I commit each day of the week into His hands because only He lives in the past, present, and the future. Who is more qualified to guide my steps and protect me from unforeseen danger than God?! I guess, I was just tired of being a dumping ground of whatever the day or week had to offer. I wanted to strategically commit everything into the hands of the Creator because He is more powerful and worthy to guide and protect me and my family. With this realization and decision, my happiness began to shift from material possession to being grateful and thankful for each moment, that I get to be alive and share with my family and friends. I don't want you to think that just this realization has kept me happy all the way. What helps keep my happiness constant and full is the fact that I make it a habit to call on God everyday and ask for the grace to appreciate the little things and every moment that I and my family are given. Prayer is very important. Wealth and material possessions are very fleeting. But prayer is constant and powerful. If we build our happiness around the little things which are actually the most important things (good health, the love of family and friends, e.t.c.), even if we lose some of our money, it won't put us in despair. All of our earthly possessions can only be truly protected and secured in the hands of God anyway. We should learn to deliberately call on Him and ask for His protection and guidance everyday that we are alive!

Everything that I have just described in the previous paragraphs can be summed up in one sentence. Happiness is a decision that shouldn't be based on material possessions and people. Because material possessions are fleeting and people will disappoint us. Instead, we should make a conscious decision to pursue God and ask for His protection over us and our friends and family and of course our possessions. In addition to that, we should also ask Him for the grace to be joyful in all circumstances. I hope that this post encourages you in some way. It might be a little deep but it came from my heart. We all can find happiness in the little things everyday. We don't have to put our lives on hold in anticipation of that amazing thing that we are expecting to happen in order to be happy! Have an amazing DAY!
